How much of life do you perceive?
Perception has always been of great interest to Jason Sullivan and his search for the answers of how and why we perceive in the manner in which we do has led him to some incredible discoveries.
When Jason was young he had many health problems and was often very sick. He remembers having vivid hallucinations quite often due to running a fever and that the hallucinations seemed very real, often as real as his normal experiences. This led him to wonder at a very young age about the mind and the solidity of perception. It wasn't until many years later, when Jason began to study the cognitive functions of the brain, that he came to understand many of the answers to the questions that he had pondered many years before.
Jason has since worked towards sharing his perspective by using his art as a means to approach certain fundamental aspects of perspective and perception.
The mind interprets, the body creates. In material space, objects are manifestations of the perceptions of the mind, a mind that uses the body as a vessel to materialize ideas, patterns, and emotions. Jason Sullivan's work investigates the realization of energy as he explores abstract and metamorphic scenery to visualize his perspective.
