Aging: the Disease, the Cure, the Implications

by Administrator on May 19th, 2008

Applying the new technologies of regenerative and genetic medicine, the engineering approach to aging promises to dramatically extend healthy human life within the next few decades.

How do you and your loved ones stand to benefit from the coming biomedical revolution? Are you prepared? Is society prepared?

At Aging 2008 you will engage with top scientists and advocates as they present their findings and advice, and learn what you can do to help accelerate progress towards a cure for the disease and suffering of aging.

Doors open at 4:00 pm on June 27th, 2008, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. All attendees must register in advance; entry is free and includes a complimentary drinks reception before the presentations begin. For an additional $30, attendees also have the opportunity to attend a special dinner with the speakers.

Something Terrible Just Happened!!!

by Administrator on March 16th, 2008

something terrible just happened!!!

i was checking my email and everything was normal as usual, when out of nowhere i was attacked by a mcskillet burrito!

it got big and would not let me check my messages.

i asked it nicely to leave but it just sat there being all big and shiny and greasy.

i finally touched it with my computer hand and it yelled mcskillet potatoes at me and then ran away.

i know this is somewhat hard to believe coming from me, so i took a screenshot of it.

be careful, this could happen to you!

bad boys, bad boys,

whatcha gonna do?

whatcha gonna do when
mcskillet comes for you?

Machine Project Announcement

by Administrator on March 16th, 2008

Dear friends,

Please join us at 4pm this Sunday March 15th (today!) for an afternoon screening of Satyajit Ray’s masterpiece, Pathar Panchali. The film features classical north Indian music scored by
Ravi Shankar. Free admission.

machineproject.com/film-screening-pathar-panchali-1955/

This is followed on Monday March 16th at 8pm by a talk/audio performance by Johannes Grenzfurthner titled The Innermost Unifier: Today it’s the Corporate Anthem. When we last saw Johannes, he and his co-cospirators from Monochrom were boiling down sixty gallons of coca cola to make a brick of coke and burying people alive in our backyard. For this event, Johannes will give a theoretical and applied overview on the musical genre of the corporate anthem.

Mio Painting

Mio is an excellent painter (as well as a very nice friend) that lives in France. His work is both fluid and expressive and his usage of color is consistently appealing. Below are several pieces that I especially enjoy. Visit his page at www.myspace.com/miopeintre where he has several hundred photographs of his work available to view.
